Onomatopoeia was today’s word of the day on www.visualthesaurus.com. hiccup, zoom, bang, beep, splash. I love words that sound like their meaning. quack, bark, roar, meow, whoop. OK, so the lowly newsletter is not the most exciting, glamorous piece of collateral – and the title ‘Regulatory Policy Newsletter’ doesn’t evoke cutting edge design – but I secretly rather enjoyed working on the recent re-design of ICMA’s quarterly publication.

Typography and typefaces are such an important part of your brand, but using them online has to date been very limited. The future of typography on the web though is starting to look brighter with the launch of the latest versions of the Firefox and Safari web browsers and the @font-face CSS support.
