Letterpress printing has been around for centuries, but nearly died out in Britain, but it is seeing a bit of a renaissance due to its unique tactile qualities. I spotted this rather delightful documentary about letterpress and one of the few remaining movable-type printing workshops in the UK, situated at Plymouth University.

Designs for animal life

I recently read an article about the rebranding of Chester zoo by Manchester based agency ‘Music’. They have created a bespoke hand drawn font for the new identity in conjunction with illustrator Adam Hayes. There is a primary face in 4 weights for flexibility and a secondary face playfully incorporating animal themed quirks.

It all started with a mouse mat.

Since CNC, our lovely new client, was first established they have been sending out mouse mat calendars annually to their customers and suppliers. A simple bit of merchandise, but apt for an IT company and one that stays on their clients’ desks all year round. If their clients don’t receive a mouse mat in January they call to ask for one! See how this inspired a new direction, a new brand…

Pantone Plus colour matching system

The Pantone matching system has been around now for almost 50 years, setting standards in colour production the world over. This month saw the release of the Pantone Plus Series which comprises of 566 new colours, a revised chromatic colour flow, and a set of digital tools.
