I have recently fallen in love with the works of artist Rob Ryan who creates intricate and beautiful paper-cut works of art of his prose and illustrations. His pieces have a fairytale quality; Whimsical figures entwined with words which are sometimes poignant (“My home will have no windows doors or floors nor bricks and mortar. My only home is in your arms and nowhere else”) and often amusing (“Why are you so naughty?” a bird asks a girl. “Because I’m so happy!” she replies).

Once upon a time, a select group of monks and scholars were responsible for the creation of all printed media. They toiled away for years, patiently handcrafting beautiful, ornate, handwritten scrolls and books. But hey, it was worth it, right?
