This might not be everyone’s cup of tea and to be honest if I did visit, I would be worried about seeing certain items on display that look similar to items that I own! Anyway, during the Christmas break the inevitable thoughts came to mind about how certain rooms – mainly the living room – could do with a fresh up maybe a lick of paint would be the answer or a new lamp perhaps? I ordered a few wallpaper samples from Farrow & Ball for inspiration (one can dream!). So when I came across The
Geffrye Museum London, I thought it would be quite interesting to see the collections of furniture, textiles, paintings and decorative arts displayed in a series of period rooms from 1600 to the present day.
The collections reflect the history of the English home over the past 400 years, focusing on the living rooms of the urban middle classes, mainly in London.
The museum also offers visitor’s access to their special exhibitions throughout the year and to stroll around the beautiful herb and period gardens, which are free. If you fancy a day out then visit www.geffrye-museum.org.uk
I tried to access the web site but it didn’t seem to exist…………….
Where is the museum?
Hi Doug, the link should be http://www.geffrye-museum.org.uk/ – now updated in the post.
Sorry it didn’t work, and thanks for pointing it out…
