When two entrepreneurs came to us a couple of months ago, they had a brilliant business plan but no name or logo or visual identity. ‘Great, we can help you with all of that!’ we said and jumped at the chance to be part of this exciting, start-up venture. They wanted to get the nation singing! All ages and all levels would be welcome to this new vocal school, which is opening up its doors to the public beginning of next year. The first school will be situated in Sussex, with the ambition to franchise in cities across the whole country and possibly in Europe as well.

They wanted a name that was fun, modern and memorable, appealed to everyone and communicated singing, learning and live performance. We came up with many names that had ‘Sing’ or ‘Vocal’ and ‘School’ and ‘Academy’ in them, but something was missing, they weren’t unique enough. Then ‘Vocademy’ came to us, and we knew this was the right name for them – clever, punchy and professional. The client agreed and we set off to work on the logo and visual identity.

The school will teach all genres of music (apart from classical and opera), but the main focus will be on pop/rock, so the look needed to be quite ‘rocky’ but still appeal to all ages. Since the school will be set up with the intention of franchising, the branding had to work on a national and international level. We chose a distinctive but simple and timeless font, and created a circular background resembling a sticker – something which will work well within their marketing and promotional materials. We used the colour orange since we knew the client liked the energy and positivity it conveys.

We’re now designing the website, stationary and marketing materials for them, which we’re looking forward to showing off beginning of next year.
