Logo design has always been a huge passion of mine. Before the term ‘Branding’ had even been invented the logo was always the single focus of every company’s visual identity. Some have been around for years and have withstood the test of time, others have been and gone without making any impact on the public at large. With this in mind we did a quick survey to find out some our favourite logos.

I have recently been inspired by a set of beautifully designed books whilst watching a TV programme. The format of the programme was how to add charm and character to a renovated modern Victorian home. The ideas included; vintage wall clocks, a hand painted screen and a set of bound F.Scott Fitzgerald’s works in eye-catching patterns and metallics; do you like them?

I have recently fallen in love with the works of artist Rob Ryan who creates intricate and beautiful paper-cut works of art of his prose and illustrations. His pieces have a fairytale quality; Whimsical figures entwined with words which are sometimes poignant (“My home will have no windows doors or floors nor bricks and mortar. My only home is in your arms and nowhere else”) and often amusing (“Why are you so naughty?” a bird asks a girl. “Because I’m so happy!” she replies).

There are many reasons to love the graphically illustrated The Geometry of Pasta. The story behind the concept being just one of them. If you’re passionate about design and cooking, then this future classic is a must-read for you! A real feast for the eyes…
